County Hall, Lewes

Challenge

The boiler room within this busy, multi-storey office building was no longer meeting the council’s needs and had to be upgraded. Due to the importance of the site, this project posed several key challenges: there would be limited access to the building, and the hot water and heating systems needed to remain operational at all times.

SOLUTION

Due to detailed strategic planning, a comprehensive health and safety plan, and the successful coordination of the project alongside other trades, Roselands Heating were able to organise the installation around the access limitations that were in place. By removing concrete slabs from the side of the building, the existing boilers could be taken out easily; new boilers were then placed using a crane and other specialist lifting equipment.

The boiler room was replaced in its entirety to make sure that the new systems would meet the council’s requirements. Four Hoval Ultra Gas 850 high-efficiency commercial gas boilers were installed, alongside two Hamworthy direct-fired high-efficiency water heaters. These were then supported with new pipework, system controls, flues, and an upgraded gas supply.

Benefits

  • Increased fuel efficiency
  • Improved reliability
  • Reduced carbon footprint
  • Reduced maintenance costs
  • Minimal disruption to the building’s occupants
